      July programs at Red Bank Library

      RED BANK — How to find reliable health and wellness information on the internet will be the topic of a program by medical librarian Amy Edwards of Riverview Medical Center and Meridian Health at the Red Bank Public Library on Monday, July 13 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The discussion is another in a series of free, hands-on classes in exploring the National Library of Medicine's database, MedlinePlus by Edwards, whose popular and informative program "From Snake Oil to Penicillin" will introduce patrons to high-quality online health information and teach them to evaluate the quality of information on Internet websites.

      Registration for this program is required. Call Meridian Health at 1-800- 560-9990 to register.

      Free English as a Second Language classes for adults 18 and over are offered on a regular basis at the library in partnership with the Literacy Volunteers of Monmouth County. Contact the Literacy Volunteers at 732-571-0209 or visit the website at www.lvmonmouthnj.org for information on upcoming ESL classes.

      The library hosts an adult book discussion group, "Readin' on the River," on the last Wednesday of each month 7- 8 p.m. For more information and to register, contact the library at 732-842- 0690.

      The Red Bank Senior Center, in cooperation with the Red Bank Public Library, hosts a book discussion group on the last Monday of each month at the senior center at 1 p.m. Red Bank Borough residents age 60 and over are welcome to join the center and participate in this or any of its other programs.       The Red Bank Photography Club meets the first Monday of each month at the library from 7 to 8:45 p.m. For more information, call John Tyler at 732-768- 6432, or email to rb.pc@live.com.

      Summer library hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 1 to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The library is located at 84 West Front St.
