Mary Derderian Brown
Mrs. Brown, 87, of Tinton Falls, died June 23, 2009, at Renaissance Gardens, Tinton Falls. She was a retired elementary school substitute teacher in New York, and accomplished pianist who taught privately. She also authored several crossword puzzles until 2001, some of which appeared in publications such as The New York Times. Prior to that, she was a retired engineering assistant at General Electric, Lynn, Mass. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, James David Brown; a brother, Setrak Derderian; and two sisters, Agnes Devejian and Rose Tatian. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Lynn Brown of Little Falls, N.Y.; two daughters and one son-inlaw, Sandy and Warren Houck of Middletown, and Deborah Brown of Red Bank; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held in Wakefield, Mass., and interment in Beverly Farms, Mass.
