The Sandy Hook Child Care Center (SHCCC) invites local families to Gateway National Recreation Area Sandy Hook for a Day at the Beach Open House 4-6 p.m. Aug. 26 at the SHCCC on Pennington Street, Sandy Hook. The 2009 Holiday Express golf classic held in mid July raised $65,000 for the Holiday Express scholarship program. The scholarship program has provided financial assistance to students who would not otherwise be able to further their education. Dairy Queens in Clarksburg, Freehold, Lincroft, Toms River and Tinton Falls will host the fourth annual North American "Miracle Treat Day," Aug. 13, with $1 or more from every Blizzard sold donated to Children's Miracle Network, a nonprofit organization that raises money for children's hospitals. Proceeds from Blizzard sales in this area will benefit Children's Specialized Hospital, a Children's Miracle Network hospital.
