      Salvation Army to hold open house Oct. 7
            The Salvation Army of Red Bank, 180 Newman Springs Road, will hold a community open house from 5:30-8 p.m. on Oct. 7. The free event will feature tours of the center, information about its programs, entertainment by The Salvation Army brass band and refreshments. Awards will also be presented for support of The Army.

            Alzheimer's Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter will hold caregiver support group meetings 10 a.m. Oct. 1 at Atria Senior Living Group, 44 Pine St., and 7 p.m. Oct. 14 at Kensington Court, 864 Shrewsbury Ave., both Tinton Falls.

      Seniors group seeks new members
            SHREWSBURY — The Shrewsbury Senior Homesteaders is launching a membership drive for residents 50 years of age or older. The group meets 10 months of the year with no meetings scheduled in July and August. Eight of the meetings are held at the Presbyterian Church House, Sycamore Avenue, Shrewsbury, on the second Thursday of each month.

      Sunset Gathering helps families in need
            The third annual Sunset Gathering will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 5-8 p.m. at the Two River Theatre at 21 Bridge Ave., Red Bank. Proceeds from this year's gathering will once again be used for families in need of emergency assistance in the greater Red Bank area and who receive assistance from Project Loaves and Fishes.

      Livestrong Day at center Oct. 2
            The Wellness Community — The Diney Goldsmith Center, Eatontown, will present a Livestrong Day: A Taste of Wellness at 10 a.m. on Oct. 2. The free event for cancer survivors will feature programs such as "Welcome to Wellness," yoga, qi gong and guided imagery. Livestrong Day was created by Lance Armstrong and is celebrated on the day of his original cancer diagnosis.
