German School of Monmouth County Managing Director Dorothea Drew (l-r), of Middletown, lifts a stein with Red Bank Mayor Pasquale "Pat" Menna and board of trustees President Heiko Roessle, of South Amboy, at the school's Oktoberfest fundraiser held at the Red Bank Elks Lodge. More than 300 attended Oktoberfest and raised $4,000 for the educational programs of the school, which includes the area's only German-language multimedia library that is also open to the general public. The Shrewsbury Players are performing in "A Streetcar Named Desire" through Oct. 24 at the Presbyterian Church House, 352 Sycamore Ave., Shrewsbury. Performances will be at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $16 for students and seniors, and $20 for all others. For reservations, call 732-224-8882.

Oceanic Free Library, 109 Avenue of Two Rivers, Rumson, is displaying African wooden jewelry by Nancy Hagerman and paintings by Rita Herzfeld and Peter Arakawa during November. During December, oils by Fabio Alvaro and jewelry by Deborah T. Sidwell will be displayed. The works are available for purchase. Other handcrafts available are needlepoint wine totes and bags by Nancy Hagerman, and handknit baby hats by Toni Cook. Artists donate a percentage of their sales to the library. Methodist Women at the United Methodist Church, 247 Broad St., Red Bank, will host its annual fall/holiday bazaar and luncheon 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 14, with the luncheon 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Items include a Tiffany table, jewelry and needlework. Monmouth Museum on Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown, will sponsor a bus trip to the murals tour of Philadelphia from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 29. The tour will be of Philadelphia's super-size outdoor works of art, with lunch included. The cost is $85 for nonmembers and $80 for members.
