Library's 'Books for Kids' begins Nov. 1
      The Monmouth County Library's annual "Books for Kids" book drive will be held Nov. 1-Dec. 1. Books for preschoolers through age 14 will be accepted at any county library branch, and be distributed to local charities and community agencies that serve children with limited access to books.

Foundation offering letters from Santa Claus
      The Arthritis Foundation, New Jersey Chapter, Iselin, is offering personalized letters from Santa Claus this holiday season. For an $8 donation, the foundation will send a child, adult, or pet a personalized letter and token gift from Santa Claus. Proceeds benefit programs and services for adults and children with arthritis in New Jersey.

Lt. Zilinski Memorial Run set for Nov. 8
      The fourth annual Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski II Memorial 3.5-mile run and 2-mile walk will take place Nov. 8 at the PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel (rain or shine). Registration will begin at 7:45 a.m., an opening ceremony will be held at 8:50 a.m., and the race will start at 10 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the Lt. Dennis W.

Greater Media slates Halloween event
      Greater Media radio stations WJRZ-FM (100.1) and WRAT-FM (95.9) will host a Haunted Halloween House Party 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Oct. 31 at Martell's, Point Pleasant Beach. Park system slates November events
      The Monmouth County Park System, will present "Sit Thee Down, Chairs That FurnishedWalnford" an exhibit Nov. 1-30 at Historic Walnford, Walnford Road, Upper Freehold. The exhibit will display a variety of chairs, both plain and fancy, that once furnished the Walnford estate throughout the 18th and 19th centuries.
