Ronnie Spector & Darlene Love together for holiday concert
RED BANK — The Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County will present a holiday benefit concert, "A Christmas Gift for You," on Thursday, Dec. 17, at 8 p.m. at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank.
The concert will feature Ronnie Spector and Darlene Love, two women who defined the essence of the "girl group" sound, paving the way for future generations.
In their first time performing together live on stage, Spector and Love will create a new concert version of "A Christmas Gift for You," (1963) the all-time rock 'n' roll holiday classic album, according to a press release from the Boys & Girls Club.
This show will feature the original voices of such holiday hits as "Frosty the Snowman," "Sleigh Ride" and "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" (Spector), "Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)," "White Christmas" and "Winter Wonderland" (Love).
In addition, they will perform their timeless pop hits such as "Be My Baby," "Baby I Love You," "He's a Rebel" and "Today I Met the Boy I'm Gonna Marry" along with their duet version of "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree."
Tickets for the show are now on sale and are available by calling the Count Basie Theatre at 732-842-9000 or online at www.countbasietheatre.org. Ticket prices start at $29.50.
Proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County, which operates clubs in Asbury Park and Red Bank.
