      'Moving Forward," the first solo exhibit of work by Lucy Kalian, is at the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury. Kalian creates art in multiple mediums and will be presenting photographs, serigraphs and new oil paintings. Her large oil paintings depict one of her favorite themes — bridges. Her smaller still-life paintings are whimsical and unique.

      They're not rock stars, but they probably have more fun singing together than many of today's musical titans. They're the Heart of New Jersey, a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, that meets every Wednesday evening at Defino Central Elementary School in Marlboro to practice their craft of fourpart harmony with a wide-ranging repertoire of songs.
