      The Jersey Shore Chapter of the American Conference on Diversity, New Brunswick, is seeking nominees for its Humanitarian Award. The deadline for submission is Dec. 4. The award will be presented April 29 at the organization's annual awards reception.

Entries now taken for Rock'n Music Idol
      Rock'n Music Idol, Middletown, is now accepting entries for its third season. The competition is open to New Jersey musicians age 7-17 in the categories of guitar, bass, drums, keyboard/piano, vocals, and vocals/instrument. Interested contestants audition and are judged by a panel of professional musicians based on style, technique and originality.

County library kids' book drive under way
      The Monmouth County Library launched its annual Books for Kids book donation drive Nov. 1. Books for preschoolers through age 14 will be accepted through Dec. 1 at any county library branch. The books will be distributed to local charities and community agencies that serve children with limited access to books.

Applications taken for VSA arts of N.J. awards
      VSA arts of New Jersey, New Brunswick, is accepting applications for the 2010 Arts Achievement awards and fifth annual Dare to Imagine awards. Deadline for applications is Jan. 11, and recipients will be announced in March.
