NOTES

Friends of Ocean Township residents Chris and Dana Lee will hold a fundraiser 1-5 p.m. Jan. 17 at Bar Anticipation in Belmar to raise money to help offset medical expenses for their 5-year-old daughter, Tori, who has acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Tickets are $25 per person, which includes a buffet, entertainment and drinks. There will also be a chance auction and a 50/50 raffle.

Proceeds will go directly to help the Lees with the medical expenses and lost wages due to their need to care for Tori, who was diagnosed in October and for the next 2-3 years will undergo chemotherapy treatments, among other procedures.

For more information, call Laurie Olsen at 732-918-8211 or e-mail at bellhop1965@ aol.com. Donations can also be sent to Laurie Olsen at 22 Springhouse Road, Wayside, NJ 07712.

Roey Hadar, an eighth-grade student at Rumson Country Day School, won the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee in mid December. The bee was the first round in the 21st annual National Geographic Bee. Hadar will now take a written test, and up to 100 of the top scorers in each state will be eligible to compete in the state bee in April. State champions receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to participate in the National Geographic Bee national championship in May, and the first-place national winner receives a $25,000 college scholarship and a lifetime membership in the Society.
