      The Shore Conference Divisional Meet turned into a showcase for the area's track and field athletes. The meet, run over two days (Jan. 2-3), was held at the John Bennett Indoor Complex in Toms River, and the local stars shined.

      Back when the season began, Red Bank Regional head wrestling coach Scott Ferris spoke of his desire to see his team win its host tournament, the Buc Classic. This past weekend, they very nearly did it, finishing second in a competitive field that was topped by Jackson Liberty.

      The 2009 Rebel Indoor Shot Put Series got off to a record-setting start. Brick Township's Lisa Stuto set a new meet record in the Senior Girls division with a heave of 39-7. Runner-up Shannon Watt of Jackson Memorial (39-5) also topped the old record of 38-0 by Anna Di- Paolo of Howell.
