Monmouth County Arts Council 30th annual Juried Art Show & Sale

The Monmouth County Arts Council's 30th annual Juried Art Show and Sale opens Jan. 17 at the MonmouthMuseum in Lincroft.

Featuring the work of some of the artists from the tri-state and East Coast area in a mix of media, this exhibition demonstrates the wealth of talent and creativity that contributes to the richness of the arts in Monmouth County, according to a press release from the arts council.

MCAC announced the 2009 award winners. They are: Erik Johanson, Tinton Falls, for "Twisted,"MichaelHynes,Middletown, for "Whaler's Cabin," Saori Kurioka, Red Bank, for "Blue Petals," Jiaming Wang, New York, for "New World Discoveries," and Mitchell Bell, Marlboro, for "NYC Study 1."

This year's juror, artist Frank Hyder, stated, "I was struck by the superb quality of many of the submissions and the diverse range that was represented."

The exhibition will be on display in the Monmouth Museum's main gallery located on the Brookdale Community College campus in Lincroft, from Jan. 17 through March 1. An opening reception will be held 3- 5 p.m. Jan. 17.

"NYC Study 1" by Mitchell Bell
An annual attraction that has grown in reputation over the past 30 years, the Juried Art Show and Sale provides an opportunity for local and regional artists to be exhibited at the county's museum after being juried by an artist of international stature, the release states.

Museum hours are: Tuesday - Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, 1-5 p.m. General museum admission is $5 (adult) and $6 (adult with children).
