Joan C. Burns

Mrs. Burns, 72, of Red Bank, died Aug. 3, 2009, at home. She resided in Avon, Red Bank and Middletown, prior to relocating to Red Bank. She taught kindergarten at St. Leo the Great School, Lincroft section of Middletown, from 1976 until retirement in 2004. Prior to that, she was a substitute teacher at St. James Elementary School, Red Bank, and Middletown Public Schools. She was predeceased by a brother, Edwin M. Schneider; and a son, Michael G. Burns. She is survived by two sons and daughters in-law, Joseph P. and Kerry Burns of Salisbury, Md., and Andrew and Gabriele Burns of Denver, Colo.; and two grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Leo the Great Church, Lincroft. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by Thompson Funeral Home, Red Bank.
