Nominees sought for Red Cross honor
Do you know an “ordinary” person from your local community who has accomplished something “extraordinary” that has made the world a safer, healthier and better place to live? The Red Cross Jersey Coast Chapter will be hosting its inaugural Hometown Heroes event in March 2010 and is in need of assistance.
Nominate a teacher, police officer, nurse or anyone from Monmouth County or Ocean County for a chance to be honored as a Hometown Hero in one of the following categories:
• Emergency Response Hero — Provided medical assistance including CPR and/or first aid to a person in need.
• Blood Advocate Hero — Supported Red Cross mission of collecting blood to save lives.
• Disaster Relief Hero — Provided relief to a victim(s) of a disaster or emergency.
• Armed Forces Hero — An active, reserve, or retired member of the armed forces who acted above the call of duty in response to an emergency situation or through a commitment to the community.
• Community Hero — Worked to improve the safety and/or well-being of his or her community.
• Paving the Way Hero — An individual under the age of 21 who selflessly responded to a crisis situation and/or worked toward making a difference in the world.
• Animal Rescue Hero — Exhibited dedication to the safety and well-being of animals.
• International Hero — Assisted people in need on an international level.
• Guardian Angel Hero — Created lasting change in the life of a child or children.
• Give Back Hero — Donated funds, time, and/or services to benefit an individual(s) or organization in need.
