Monmouth Symphony Orchestra will present “Italian Opera Afternoon,” 3 p.m. Feb. 7 at Count Basie Theatre, 99 Monmouth St., Red Bank. Celadon Youth, an Asian classical music ensemble, will perform free concerts 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Feb. 28 at Seabrook Village Auditorium, 3000 Essex Road, Tinton Falls. The program will include performances of ancient Asian instruments: erhu, pipa, yang qin, dizi and drums; and music from ancient China, Central Asia and Southeast Asia.

Composer and conductor Vince Peterson will discuss his piece “Sing the Body Electric,” a setting of Walt Whitman poems for chorus and brass ensemble, 7 p.m., followed by his concert at 8 p.m. March 13. The audience is invited to meet the composer at the talk. Both will be hosted by First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank-Tower Hill, 255 Harding Road, Red Bank. The concert also features works by contemporary composers, and commentary by Dr. Mark Shapiro, artistic director and conductor. Tickets are $25, $22 for seniors, and $5 for students. The Fair Haven PTA will host its annual luncheon, “My Fair Haven — A Celebration of Community,” at 10 a.m. on March 13 at Holiday Inn, Hope Road, Tinton Falls. Tickets are $40 before March 1, and $45 thereafter, and reservations are required. Local artists have submitted works representing their ideas for “My Fair Haven,” with a painting by Quinn Nolan, a third-grader at Sickles School, chosen for the event poster. The event will feature a chance auction with various gift baskets, and a super 50/50. Proceeds benefit educational programs in the Fair Haven school system.
