      Newcomers’ ‘Lucky Name’ benefit Feb. 25
            The Newcomers’ Club of Rumson-Fair Haven-Little Silver-Shrewsbury will hold its annual “Lucky Name” fundraiser event 6:30- 10:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at McLoone’s Pier House, Pier Village, Long Branch, to benefit the Monmouth County Child Advocacy Center, Freehold. There will be food, a cash bar, raffles, 50/50 and silent auctions.The cost is $50 per person.

            Rutgers University will host a “Ready to Run: Campaign Training for Women” seminar 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. March 20 at the Douglass Campus Center, George Street, New Brunswick, with pre-conference programs for women of color 1:30-8 p.m. March 19.

            The American Heart Association is accepting nominations for its fourth annual New Jersey Go Red For Women “Woman of Distinction” award sponsored by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. The award recognizes New Jersey women who have made an exceptional dedication to raising awareness about issues affecting women across the state.

            A Valentine-themed senior prom will be held 6-8 p.m. Feb. 13 at Kensington Court Assisted Living, Tinton Falls. National Art Honor Society students at the Ranney School have selected this event as their community service project. The fundraising efforts of the students helped to pay for the band, along with the decorations and centerpieces they will be designing. *****
