Nelson Riddle ‘Studio Sessions’ at McLoone’s Supper Club

On March 6 and 7, Tim McLoone’s Supper Club in Asbury Park will host a second concert of the music of Nelson Riddle, the iconic band leader and musical genius whose arrangements helped define an era.

“The Nelson Riddle Show: Studio Sessions” will set the mood for the audience to revisit the original studio arrangements made famous a generation ago by Nat Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee and Linda Ronstadt, to name a few. The Riddle family has retrieved from the archives the original arrangements that have not been performed in a live band performance for a generation.

The new program will offer the studio perspective with Christopher Riddle and Rosemary Riddle Acerra recounting firsthand stories of their father’s recording sessions. The first Riddle show in November at McLoone’s was a sellout with a 200-person waiting list.

A 17-piece big band will perform as jazz vocalist Shawnn Monteiro interprets Riddle’s classics, joined by the vintage vocal stylings of British vocalist Atila.

Tickets are $79.95 and include prix fixe dinner. Show begins at 7 p.m. and doors open at 6 p.m. for dinner. Reservations are recommended early, since the previous show sold out.

For reservations, call 732-774-1400. For more information, visit www.nelsonriddle.org and www.timmcloonessupperclub.com.
