      Big hearts and beautiful heads turned out at Hair for Haiti on Valentine’s Day in Red Bank. Red Bank stylists Glen Goldbaum of Glen Goldbaum 72, Christine Zilinski (second from left) of Salon Concrete, and David Levine of David Levine Salon, and their staffs held a hairstyle-a-thon Feb. 14, raising $2,768 for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund in Haiti. The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Monmouth County will host a free social action documentary film series this spring.       The Mad Hatter Pub and Pizzeria will host the “Love for Lauren” benefit on behalf of the National Kidney Foundation 8- 11 p.m. Feb. 27. The event will raise awareness about kidney disease and funds for research. Mad Hatter owners Scott and Amy Kelly are hosting the event in honor of their cousin, Lauren Cerra, 20, of Sea Bright, who has received two kidney transplants in the last two years.

      The Monmouth Ocean Adult Education Commission (MAECOM) is sponsoring a Private Pilot Ground School. Elementary, middle and high school teachers who have aviation as part of their curriculum are invited to register. Professional development credit will be awarded. The course starts March 8 and runs for 10 Mondays, 6-9 p.m. The cost is $150 for the 30-hour course, and approximately $50 for books and materials.       To celebrate Ranney School’s 50th anniversary and 50 years of the world’s longest-running musical, the Tinton Falls school’s International Thespian Troupe No. 630 will present “The Fantasticks” in Ranney’s Commons Black Box Theater at 7 p.m. March 4, 5.

      The musical tells the story of Luisa and Matt, a youthful couple longing for love and adventure. The show’s original off-Broadway production ran for 42 years and 17,162 performances, making it the world’s longest-running musical.

      Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.
