Volunteers needed for Friends of Clearwater Festival Aug. 21
The New Jersey Friends of Clearwater are looking for volunteers to help with the 35th annual Clearwater Festival, a celebration of the environment with live music, song, food, crafts and practical information on protecting natural resources. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Sunset Park in Asbury Park.
Clearwater is a grassroots organization formed in the early 1970s whose mission is to increase awareness of the need to protect the environment. This year’s focus is what people can do to protect the watershed from pollutants.
Starting Friday night at 6 p.m. there is work to be done unloading equipment, designating vendor sites and other locations in the park. At 7 a.m. Saturday, set-up work begins, and by opening time at 11 a.m. volunteers need to be in place for hospitality, peacekeepers, T-shirt sales, the children’s area, and the stage entertainer check. If you’d rather spend the day at the beach, come help with the break-down work after 7 p.m.
Be part of the largest enviro-festival in New Jersey; volunteers who work for four hours receive a free meal. Volunteers should contact Lynn Humphrey at 732-539-6806 or email lynn22353@yahoo.com.
More information on the festival for food and other vendors, crafters, environmental groups and others is available on the website at www.mcclearwater.org.
