Boston University awarded academic degrees to 5,819 students in May. Among the graduates were Dana Jaeger of Fair Haven, who received a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering, cum laude; Kelsey L. Moss of Little Silver, who received a Bachelor of Science in elementary education; and Andrew C. Keiser of Red Bank, who received a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering.
Rosemarie Colao of Little Silver has been selected by the state of New Jersey’s Department of Education as a 2010 New Jersey Distinguished Student Teacher. She was a student teacher at the Maple Place Elementary School in Oceanport with cooperating teacher Donna Trocchia and Monmouth University supervisor Dr. Letitia Graybill. Colao graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Upon graduation, she worked at CSPAN Cable Network and became interested in teaching and children’s literature while working as a tutor in Brookdale Community College’s Reading Department and volunteering in the library of her children’s middle school. Colao graduated from Monmouth University with a Master of Arts in teaching in 2010 with a K-5 certification and 5-8 Language Arts/Literacy certification.
The New Jersey Distinguished Student Teacher Awards annually recognize the year’s 15 top graduates of teacher preparation programs administered by New Jersey colleges and universities.
Drew University, Madison, has named the following students to its dean’s list for the spring semester: Grace A. Wingerter of Fair Haven; Cayley S. Barlowe and Shamila A. Kohestani, both of Rumson; Brook A. Connell of Little Silver; and Hanna K. Jrad and Victoria M. Russell, of Red Bank.
Fairfield University, Fairfield, Conn., presented degrees to the following local residents: Coady A. Lawes of Rumson, a Bachelor of Science in mathematics; Erin J. Rigby of Fair Haven, a Bachelor of Science in marketing; Daniel H. Smith of Fair Haven, a Bachelor of Science in finance, and Jane G. Glover of Red Bank, a Bachelor of Science in marketing.
Amanda Huthwaite of Little Silver has graduated from St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Ind., with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She is the daughter of Christine and Thomas Huthwaite.
Max Kornek, of Oceanport, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne. Kornek is an oceanography major.
William C. Ray, Rumson, has graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., with a Bachelor of Science in physics. The 2006 graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven High School will commence pilot training at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi in August. He is the son of Robert W. Ray and Kristen J. Morsches.
