Will DEP become ‘Dept. of Expanding Pollution’?
     What if the take-noprisoners former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie told his staff prosecutions will be based not just on the law, but also on costbenefit analyses and whether the prosecutions hinder the economy? Clearly, the scenario is fictional. Prosecutor Christie’s time-honored path to Morven was in getting convictions, not giving concessions.

Resident says it’s time to change drug laws
     Has anyone been able to keep track of how many gang-related shootings there have been in Monmouth County so far this year? Our elected officials are quick to give useless, politically correct answers to stopping the violent street gang epidemic, often by wasting your tax dollars on youth sports programs that do nothing to fight gangs.

Reader responds to letter on ‘uniculturalism’
     Iread with interest the opinion/ editorial “America Needs Uniculturalism, Not Multiculturalism,” (July 15) by Jim Fitzmaurice, trying to understand his position, as the writing seemed erudite and the thinking serious.
