I’m Gorgeous equals track record in winning Cane Pace qualifier
Woodstock, a $35,000 supplemental entry, finished three-quarters of a length behind the winner and 2¾ lengths ahead of Valentino. Rockin Image and Urgent Action finished fourth and fifth, respectively, to make it into Labor Day’s $300,000 Cane Pace final, the first leg of the Pacing Triple Crown.
Freehold Raceway will host the Cane Pace on Sept. 6.
With Andy Miller in the driver’s seat, I’m Gorgeous, a son of Bettor’s Delight, set fractions of 26:2, 55:0, 1:22:2 and stopped the teletimer in track record equaling time of 1:50:4 held by Art Official and Vintage Master.
The first five finishers in the Cane Pace elimination will join BG’s Folly, Delmarvalous and One More Laugh, all of whom elected to take byes into the Sept. 6 Cane Pace final by virtue of their 2010 season earnings. They were the highest earners among the Cane Pace eligible horses.
One More Laugh has earned $924,614 and has a lifetime mark of 1:47.3. BG’S Folly had earned $527,024 with a 1:49.1 mile. Delmarvalous’ purse earnings in 2010 are $443,070 and he has turned a mile in 1:48.2.
Also on Aug. 28, Ticket To Rock set a New Jersey Sire States record for 3-year-old pacing fillies when she won the $100,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Premier Division Championship in a sizzling time of 1:52.3 for the mile.
Driver David Miller took Ticket To Rock through a 26.4 opening quarter and the record chase was on as she won by 4¾ lengths. Ticket To Rock bested the previous mark of 1:53.1 set by JK Songndance in 2005 and equaled four times, twice by Happy Dreamer.
This was Ticket To Rock’s fourth straight win.
Aug. 27 was Miller time at Freehold Raceway as drivers with the last name of Miller won nine of the 13 races on the card.
Dave Miller won six races, including five in a row (five through nine). He kicked off the streak with Yansky in the fifth race, followed by Flex The Muscle, Orphan Annie, One Man Show S and Pembrook Street. Dave Miller swept the entire Pick 5, which paid $585.20.
Miller scored his sixth victory of the afternoon in the 11th race with Western Moonlight returning $14.80 to win.
Andy Miller won three races on Aug. 27, guiding home The Stewardess A as the 3-5 choice in the opener, then scoring with Big Payout in the fourth race and finishing up with Raysofgrace De Vie in the 10th race.
