The Shore Athletic Club of New Jersey will hold the 38th running of the Jersey Shore Half Marathon on Oct. 3.

The race will begin at 9 a.m. in Lot E at the Gateway National Recreation Area, Sandy Hook. The 13.1-mile race will start and finish in the park. The double-loop course within Sandy Hook is fast and flat and USATF-certified. There are split times every mile, clocks every two miles, and aid stations every two miles. All entrants who complete the race receive a race medal.

The Jersey Shore Half Marathon has a history that places it as one of the oldest distance events held in New Jersey and the surrounding area. The race has a great tradition and is a great race to prepare for a fall marathon.

The Shore A.C. will present the seventh annual Sandy Hook Lighthouse 5K on Sunday, Oct. 3. The start time is 9:05 a.m. Preregistration can be made by mail. To enter, go to www.RaceForum.com/Lighthouse or download an application at http://jerseyshorehalfmarathon. com/.

The race will start at parking Lot E on Sandy Hook.

The 12th annual golf outing, sponsored by the Ocean County Foundation for Vocational Technical Education, will be held Oct. 7 at the Pine Ridge Golf Course on the Joint Base McGurie-Dix- Lakehurst. Check-in, registration and lunch is from 10:30 a.m. to noon, with a shotgun start and scramble format immediately following. The entry fee is $85, which includes green fees, golf cart, lockers, banquet, course refreshments, awards, prizes and goodie bags. Sponsorships and foursomes are available.
