EMACC Foundation awards scholarships
Foundation member Linda Milstein (l) with scholarship recipient Nancy Arnavas. RED BANK — Thirteen scholarships were awarded by the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce (EMACC) Educational Foundation at a reception held at the Two River Theater on June 29.
Awards of $1,250 each were made to nontraditional students, with one student, Michael Hitchcock, receiving the Florence Forgotson Scholarship of $2,500.
Two scholarships were also awarded in the name of Arrow Limousine with funds donated through the foundation’s Named Scholarship program.
To qualify for the scholarship, recipients must fall into one of three categories: a college student entering junior or senior year; an adult returning to college whose education has been interrupted; or a vocational student pursuing post-high-school vocational education.
According to a press release from the foundation, all of the EMACC Educational
Foundation recipients demonstrated a commitment to the community by giving back in some way. They also either live or work in the chamber service area: Eatontown, Fair Haven, Fort Monmouth, Little Silver, Monmouth Beach, Oceanport, Red Bank, Rumson, Sea Bright, Shrewsbury and Tinton Falls.
The 2011 scholarship recipients are: Anita O’Brien and Domenic Ranieri, Little Silver; Alexandra Brady, Colleen Roberts, Nancy Arnavas and Deborah Heh, all of Tinton Falls; Kaitlin Kulthau, Monmouth Beach; Donald Morse Jr., Fair Haven; Joanne Iwama, Rumson; Amy Mattoccia, Red Bank; Michael Hitchcock, Toms River; and Kristin Cislak and Thien Nguyen, Eatontown.
This was the 11th year the foundation has been providing scholarships, distributing more the $125,000 over that period.
