R.B.Crop Hunger Walk slated for Oct. 16

The 31st Red Bank CROP Hunger Walk will take place at Red Bank Regional High School on World Food Day, Sunday, Oct. 16. This year’s walk will honor the memory of Sue Glossbrenner, a Crop volunteer for 32 years in Monmouth County and the longest serving member of the coordinating committee.

CropWalk helps 17 local programs and pantries in their daily challenges to meet the increasing needs of families who have lost homes and jobs.

Last year’s collection of 11,000 pounds of peanut butter, beans and rice, sorted and distributed by student volunteers, went to 20 local pantries.

Crop Walk, the community hunger appeal of Church World Service, also makes possible an immediate response to events such as Hurricane Katrina, floods, tornadoes, droughts and manmade disasters around the country.

Walk day is fun and educational for the whole family, with music, clowns, an art contest and refreshments. The $1 walk wristbands will be available around downtown Red Bank and through schools and churches. Check out the website to find locations where they are available.
