There were nearly 30 performers on stage, and students, faculty, administration and staff at Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School helped every step of the way tomake "cancercrushernight" a success. Therewas dancing in the aisles to themusic of Laura Higgins and Holiday Express in the RFH auditorium Dec. 5 during the event organized by RFH junior Amanda McKean and sponsored by the RFH Health Club. McKean is a cancer survivor who put the event together to raise awareness and funds for The Valerie Fund Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at The Children's Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center and The I'm Too Young for This! Cancer Foundation for YoungAdults. Vocalist Laura Higgins, a Boston Music Awards nominee and cancer survivor, performed. Despite their nonstop holiday schedule, Tim McLoone and Holiday Express also performed. McLoone's son Jack is currently undergoing treatment for leukemia.
